serbia u n s u n g,
unsung heroes.
that’s what we are this month.
what does that mean?
we have no set place to stay
no set ministry, no set time table(s)
we are just looking for potential contacts
for future teams to partner with.
in short? we’re researching & networking.
it’s been a wild ride.
and God has showed up at every turn
where to stay & where to go
& for a variety of reasons, my team
has ended up in Belgrade for this month.
we’ve met so many amazing
people, and all ready some amazing
potential future partners –
but the truth is we aren’t singing.
the truth is – we haven’t been as effective
as we would like in our ministry this month.
we go from country to country
expecting God to do great things
(& He does )
but forgetting
that there are other things out
there
waiting to destroy.
what serbian people have told us so far
is that serbia is a country of d i v i s i o n
historically, serbian people cannot hold onto unity
it is torn by civil war after civil war
s p l i t
we’re good soldiers
(they say)
and we know how to fight
(they say).
but, we also know how to forgive.
(they say)
this month my team & i
have faced division.
divide & you will c o n q u e r
(but are we surprised?
coming in to a country gripped
by being torn apart over & over & over again?)
it’s been hard.
and we are still unsung.
the canary will sing again
when it gets a breath of fresh air.
when we become just as good at forgiving
as we are at fighting.
and what better people to teach us
what better place to learn
than here?
with a country & people
who have done this before.
we’re on our way.
and then –
belgrade, here we come.
(there’s still time).
we are e x p l o r e r s
people who travel unfamiliar places
in order to learn.
(we’re learning).
